Shakin‘ Stevens


Success did not come overnight for Shakin’ Stevens, and early on he realised that fame didn’t come easy. After many years of touring and making records, the beginning of the 80s was to become a major turning point in Stevens career. In 1980, Hot Dog provided him with his first UK hit. That same year, Marie Marie was the spark that ignited his European success, and in 1981 This Ole House became a huge International hit - establishing him as a unique international artist.

Boney M

The group formed in West Germany in 1975 at the initiative of Frank Farian, and its original composition included Maizie Williams, Liz Mitchell, Marcia Barrett and Bobby Farrell. At the end of the 1990’s, the band was divided, and at present as many as four groups exist bearing the name Boney M: Boney M. featuring Maizie Williams, Boney M featuring Liz Mitchell, Boney M featuring Marcia Barrett, and Boney M featuring Bobby Farell. However, Frank Farian, the founder of the group and the author of its hits, still has exclusive rights to write songs for the Boney M band.

Lou Bega



David Lubega (aka Lou Bega) was born in Munich on April 13, 1975. He is a multicultural person: his mother is Sicilian, his father from Uganda. The singer was made famous by his song Mambo No. 5, a remake of the Perez Prado instrumental piece from 1952, which Lou Bega added lyrics to and developed extensively.

Bajm

One of the most colourful bands of the Polish musical scene came into existence in 1978. The meeting between Beata Kozidrak, Andrzej Pietras, Jarosław Kozidrak, Marek Winiarski, Andrzej Koziara and Andrzej Grądkiewicz led to establishing a band whose name was created from the first letters of its members’ Christian names.

Budka Suflera

The real history of Budka Suflera started in 1972, when Cugowski joined Romek Lipko’s band Zrzeszenie Cnót Wszelakich. After the merger, the band kept the name Budka Suflera, and the exact date of the band’s creation is set at February 1974, when it recorded the first radio single Sen o dolinie.

Czerwone Gitary

The band came into existence on January 3, 1965 in Gdańsk, and owes its name to the colour of guitars which the members of the band played. In 1965, the musicians started their first concert tour with the slogan "We sing and play the loudest music in Poland". In 1969, the band was awarded the MIDEM award in Cannes. In the same year, the award was also granted to the Beatles.

Edyta Górniak

Edyta Górniak débuted at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 1989. She represented Poland at the Eurovision contest in 1994 where she was awarded second place for her song To nie ja. Her first album Dotyk was released a year later winning her the Fryderyk Prize for the Best Record Début of the Year.

Golec uOrkiestra


The Golec uOrkiestra band has existed since 1999, and is led by Łukasz Golec and Paweł Golec, in Janusz Stokłosa’s words, "the Beskid highlanders of the 21st century". The band has enjoyed great popularity, performing about 150 concerts each year in Poland and abroad, and its members are at present working on a new album.

Kashmir

The band was created in 2003, and made its debut in 2004 at the Opole Festival with the song Nie jestem dla ciebie. Since that time, it has played all over Poland as the main or supporting band (e.g. for Bajm). In 2006, Kashmir’s song Ok. nie chcę nic więcej was the top of the charts of the Eska, Wawa and the Kolor radio stations.

Justyna Steczkowska

A Polish pop vocalist, but also a violinist and actress gifted with a rare, almost five-octave voice scale. Her colourful career was begun by winning in Szansa na sukces in 1994. Then, among others, she obtained Grand Prix Opole ‘94, Wiktor ‘96.

Szymon Wydra & Carpe Diem




The band founded by Szymon Wydra officially started its activity in September 1992. The musical style of the band has been described as "progressive chanson", which often verges on popular middle-of-the-road music.

Urszula



Urszula is one of Poland’s most popular rock vocalists. After a several years' stay in the United States in the 1990’s, she returned to Poland and recorded the Biała Droga album with her band. The album was a great artistic and commercial success, and was awarded the Platinum Disc award in May 1997.

VOX

The VOX men’s vocal quartet came into existence in 1978 and performed for the first time in April 1979 at the International Stage Spring in Poznań. The excellently assembled band gained great popularity thanks to the participation in the poll of the Studio Gama radio program and performances at national and international music festivals. Its greatest hit was Bananowy song, which was as popular at Opole as at ... Havana.

Andrzej Lampert

He studied classical music (singing - tenor) at the Krakow Music Academy. He was the winner of the 1997-1998 edition of the Polish public TV program Szansa na sukces. In 2000, he was noticed in the Zbigniew Wodecki’s program Droga do gwiazd.

Alicja Węgorzewska-Whiskerd


Graduate of the piano class of the Secondary Music School in Szczecin and the Vocal and Dramatic Department of the Warsaw Music Academy, she made her debut at the Vienna Kammeroper. She was then engaged at the Neue Oper Wien and the Theater an der Wien, where at the invitation of UN General Secretary Kofi Annan she participated in the concert on the occasion of the human population reaching 6 billion along such renowned mezzo-sopranos as Fiorenzo Cossotto and Grace Bumbry.
