Archive« back New Year’s Eve 2008The hottest New Year’s Eve party this year is being prepared in Krakow! The star of the evening will be one of the top artist in the world – Leona Lewis. The megasexy British vocalist, winner of the third edition of the popular TV show "The X Factor” can set any crowd on fire. Each year the event gathers crowds of Krakovians as well as Polish and foreign tourists who come to this magical place to greet the New Year. In 2006 the event was organised under the slogan “Sylwestrowa Moc Przebojów” (“New Year's Explosion of Hits”). Looking at the impressive list of stars who appeared on the stage in the very heart of the Old Town this name comes as no surprise. We listened to hit songs from the last few decades, from the 1960s until now. The New Year’s Eve party on Krakow’s Main Market Square flowed to the rhythm of excellent Polish music. It featured some of the most beloved stars admired by Polish audiences for years, such as Maryla Rodowicz and Krzysztof Krawczyk, next to artists who regularly climb the charts, such as Piotr Rubik, Blue Café, Kayah, Stachursky, Reni Jusis, and Edyta Górniak. We could also hear artists new to the Polish music scene who had already managed to win the audience’s hearts: Ewelina Flinta, Monika Brodka, Zakopower, Lidia Kopania. Maryla Rodowicz, Perfect, Myslovitz and Sistars performed on the New Year’s Eve at the Krakow Main Market Square. The invited stars sang for an audience of tens of thousands of people. Bajm, T. Love, Wilki, Golec uOrkiestra and Skaldowie performed during “New Year’s Eve with the Stars” on the Main Market Square in Krakow. The New Year's Eve party has now become a tradition in Krakow, gathering crowds of participants every year. The event when we say farewell to the old and greet the New Year on the Main Market Square for years has gathered swarms of participants. For many years the inhabitants of Krakow have gathered in crowds in the Main Market Square on New Year’s Eve to celebrate the coming New Year and to take part in the event.
