New Year’s Eve 2007
Each year the event gathers crowds of Krakovians as well as Polish and foreign tourists who come to this magical place to greet the New Year. In 2006 the event was organised under the slogan “Sylwestrowa Moc Przebojów” (“New Year's Explosion of Hits”). Looking at the impressive list of stars who appeared on the stage in the very heart of the Old Town this name comes as no surprise. We listened to hit songs from the last few decades, from the 1960s until now.
The concert of Boney M original Maizie Williams was a real treat for disco music lovers. Although this German band was in its heyday in the 1970s we still unwittingly hum their songs today: Daddy Cool, Ma Baker and Rivers of Babylon, to name but a few. The highlight of the New Year’s Explosion of Hits was the performance by Shakin’ Stevens, which made the day for rock'n'roll. The music of this Welsh artist clearly manifests the influence of Elvis Presley. Then Lou Bega stirred lovers of black rhythms to dance with his greatest hit Mambo No.5. Apart from foreign artists the audience could also enjoy performances by top Polish musicians, including: Budka Suflera, Urszula, Beata Kozidrak i Bajm, Czerwone Gitary, Vox, Szymon Wydra & Carpe Diem, Golec uOrkiestra, Kashmir, Edyta Górniak, Alicja Węgorzewska-Whiskerd, Andrzej Lampert, Justyna Steczkowska and Joanna Liszowska.
